Developers from the studio 11 bit have unveiled a sequel to the popular strategy game Frostpunk in an announcement trailer on the official studio's YouTube channel.
The sequel's plot is similar to that of the first part: players will have to survive in an ice age, but this time, during the oil era.
Frostpunk is a city-planning simulator about human survival in extreme frost with the elements of steampunk. The plot talks about how humanity was faced with global cooling in the 19th century, caused by the death of the Sun. The player needs to become the leader of the few survivors left on Earth, control the city's infrastructure, keep the hope of residents alive, and fight severe hunger and frosts.
The sequel to the game will take place 30 years after the events of the first part, when the Earth was finally seized by endless frost. Players will have a new resource – oil. While the weather conditions worsen, the settlements are fighting for the precious oil – their only way to survive without the Sun.
The developers say the concept of the game will not change. Instead, they promised to diversify it and pay attention to various details.
Frostpunk 2 will be released on PC, Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG. The release date is yet unknown.
