A Statue of Russian Poet Pushkin Was Dismantled in Riga

A statue of 19th-century Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, which stood in Kronvalda Park, was dismantled in Riga on May 30. After the dismantling, the Pushkin sculpture is to be transferred to a local art museum.

The statue was made by Russian sculptor Aleksandr Tartynov and was erected in 2009 as a gift from Moscow.

It is noted that Latvian authorities never gave official approval for the statue to be placed in Riga’s park.
