Amazon has been accused of violating UK sanctions against Russia by allegedly providing Moscow with its facial recognition technology even after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This claim comes from a former employee of the company.

Charles Forrest, an ex-worker of Amazon Web Services (AWS), is currently suing his former employer over his dismissal, which occurred last year. "We believe the claims are unfounded and look forward to demonstrating this through the legal process," said a company spokesperson.

Forrest claims to have reported the alleged illegal activities to the UK House of Commons Defense Committee and the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) in May 2023.
