Two years after its release on PS4, the zombie action game Days Gone was released on PC on May 18. Some reviewers have already rated the former exclusive of the Sony console. By now, Days Gone on PC was rated higher than the PS4 version. The average score for the PC version on Metacritic is 78 out of 100, versus 71 out of 100 for the PS4 version. However, it should be noted that the PC version has 19 reviews, whereas the PS4 version has 109.
However, it still has minor problems. For example, the frame rate drops from time to time, and gamers can encounter bugs.
Days Gone runs on Unreal Engine 4. Configured with an Intel Core i3-10100° F, 8 GB RAM, and a GeForce GT 1050 Ti, the game runs over 30 frames per second on high settings. A system with AMD Ryzen 3 3200G, Vega 8 integrated graphics, and 16 GB RAM is playable as well.
The PC version has four graphics presets, and the frame rate drops even if you play at low settings and 1080p using a relatively good video card.
If your PC meets the minimum requirements, you can easily play Days Gone with a console preset of 30 FPS. A system based on an i7-7700, the Radeon Vega 64 and 16 GB of RAM is enough to play at 60 FPS and with high graphics settings. Drivers and patches could improve the overall experience as well.
The key differences from the console version are in the detailed settings. On PC, the game supports 60 frames per second, and the frame rate can be unlocked. You can separately select the language of the voice acting and the interface. There is also a Field of View setting, which is set to 70 by default, but you can increase it to 100. If you do not have a PS4 gamepad, but want to play with a controller, you can connect an Xbox controller. And of course, the PC version of Days Gone supports keyboard and mouse. For the keyboard and mouse, the controls were adapted in the usual way.
There is also support for HDR, ultra-wide monitors with aspect ratios of 21:9 and 32:9. But there is no ray tracing or DLSS in the game.
