At the latest State of Play event, Kojima Productions and Sony unveiled a new trailer for Death Stranding Director's Cut for PS5, sharing the details of the upcoming project.

Additional content of the director's version includes:

  • New locations
  • New story missions
  • The improved combat system and weapons
  • Target shooting mode to test weapons
  • Additional buildings and gadgets
  • Fragile Circuit racing mode with different tracks
  • Improved interface and online features
  • All additional items released as part of the crossovers with Half-Life and Cyberpunk 2077 for the PC version of Death Stranding
  • An additional level of difficulty
  • New original music

The developers said that all of this content is integrated into the original game naturally. Players will be able to find some things easily on the map, but look and search for others carefully.

As for the technical features of the Director's Cut, upgraded Death Stranding will receive:

  • Two graphics options: native 4K quality mode or performance mode upscaled up to 4K and 60 fps;
  • Support for HDR and ultra-wide displays;
  • Accelerated downloads;
  • Enhanced audio and 3D sound.

All progress and saves from the PS4 version of the game can be transferred to Director's Cut. Everyone who has already completed the game will be able to quickly move to new locations and use additional content.

The developers promise that all owners of the original game for PS4 will be able to buy an upgrade to the Director's Cut for the PS5 – its Digital Deluxe Edition. This upgrade will be available after release for $10.

Owners of the disc version will also be able to upgrade if they have a PS5 with a floppy drive. In this case, they will need to insert the original Blu-ray to play Director's Cut.

Death Stranding Director's Cut will be released on September 24 for PS5 only.
