Epic Games bought the publishing house Tonic Games Group, including British video game developer, Mediatonic, the creators of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. Mediatonic was founded in the U.K. in 2005. Tonic Games Group has about 300 employees globally.
The Tonic Games Group believes the merger with Epic will accelerate its plans to improve Fall Guys and increase players' numbers. The changes will not affect the gameplay. The game will continue to evolve, with new features, content, rounds, and costumes coming every season.
Mediatonic is currently working on creating an account and crossplay system similar to Fortnite's capabilities.
"As Epic works to build this virtual future, we need great creative talent who know how to build powerful games, content, and experiences," said Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney.
Fall Guys is likely to become shareware in the future - Mediatonic noted in the FAQ that they currently have nothing to announce.
