European Union Imposes New Sanctions Against Iran and Russia

The European Union (EU) has announced new sanctions against Russia and Iran in response to their military support in the war against Ukraine. The sanctions, declared by the European Council, include a ban on the export of components from the EU to Iran, which are used in the construction and manufacturing of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones.

These measures also entail travel restrictions and asset freezes that can be applied to individuals involved in supporting and participating in the Iranian UAV program.

These restrictions add to three previous packages of sanctions that were also related to drones and targeted both individuals and entities.
