House of Ashes is the third episode of The Dark Pictures Anthology, an interactive horror collection. Before that, Supermassive, also known for Until Dawn on PS4, released Man of Medan and Little Hope episodes, dedicated to the ghost ship and the village witches, respectively, and is now creating a game about underground monsters.

House of Ashes is dedicated to a unit of the American military who went to Iraq to find the chemical weapons hidden there. There was an earthquake during a shootout with the enemy, and the unit fell into the ground, finding themselves in an ancient temple.

It soon became clear that the Akkadian empire was located on this territory many thousands of years ago, and the place where the American military ended up was the ruins of the temple of the self-proclaimed ruler Naram Sin.

According to legend, he angered the gods by plundering the temple of the god of earth, wind and storms, which brought war, hunger and pestilence to his country. He built a new temple to appease the gods and remove the curse. But the gods did not heed his prayers. Now, this temple is inhabited by terrible monsters, with which the main characters will have to fight in the House of Ashes.

The most important change in the gameplay of House of Ashes, compared to previous episodes, is the camera, which you can rotate as you like. The rest of the gameplay is the same. You can play House of Ashes alone or with friends.

House of Ashes will be available on both PC, PS4 and Xbox One, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. The developers have not yet named the release date.
