After months of being in private beta, Facebook's cloud gaming service has become available and accessible via the web app on iPhone and iPad. Facebook users can access the cloud gaming platform by visiting the link and adding an icon to their home screen, which will look like the native app. After adding the icon, a dedicated Safari window of the web app will open in full screen.
Facebook cannot advertise its web app on the Facebook app, and it can't run games directly on Facebook since Apple requires all games to be added to the App Store. Otherwise, the service must only exist in the form of a web app. The social media giant said Apple's App Store rules for games are unfair.
The service allows users to enjoy HTML5 games and simple games such as solitaire, as well as stream more graphically advanced projects directly from the cloud. The service uses the Facebook Pay payment system.
Facebook notes that the Safari browser restricts gameplay a lot: audio there is muted by default, push notifications cannot be delivered to users, and the graphics are not as good as they might be in the native app.
