Finland has begun construction of the first section of the fence on its border with Russia to avoid a migration crisis as a result of Russia’s large-scale war against Ukraine, Reuters reports.

It is noted that fearing retaliation from the east after Finland’s application for NATO membership, last year the government decided to build a fence, primarily in case Russia floods the border with migrants.

The new fence will have barbed wire on top and will be 3 meters high. The construction of the fence will cost approximately 380 million euros.
