Google Blocks Services for Russian Organizations in Response to Sanctions

Google has initiated the widespread blocking of its corporate services like Google Workspace, including email, Google Docs, and Google Drive, for Russian companies that have fallen under U.S. sanctions. This development unfolded on the night of August 10, as confirmed by sources from two major IT companies to Kommersant, a Russian news outlet.

While the specific names of the affected organizations remain undisclosed, the impact is clear. Following the service blockade, employees of these companies are facing difficulties accessing their corporate email and utilizing electronic document workflow through Google Docs.

Industry insiders speculate that Google will likely continue the process of blocking Russian enterprises operating under EU or U.S. sanctions. Nevertheless, a source close to Google has stated that the company hasn't intentionally introduced changes to access for its existing Workspace services in Russia.
