CD Projekt RED reported that it was under a hacker attack. Hackers gained access to a large amount of information and now demand to negotiate with them.

The hackers left a ransom note for CD Projekt, which the company posted on its Twitter.

They said that they got access to the source code of Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, Gwent, and the not yet released version of The Witcher 3 the-witcher-3/. Moreover, according to the hackers, they also have a lot of financial information, accounting, HR, and investor relations.

If the company does not agree with them within 48 hours, the attackers promised that "your source codes will be sold or leaked online and your documents will be sent to our contacts in gaming journalism. Your public image will go down the shitter even more and people will see how you shitty your company functions. Investors will lose trust in your company, and the stock will dive even lower," the note continues.

In CD Projekt RED's official comment, the company said it did not plan to conduct any negotiations with the hackers, although it was aware of such a decision's reputational dangers. CD Projekt has already contacted law enforcement regarding the ransom. The company also clarified that the backups were not affected, and therefore it will be able to return to work without too many problems.
