LANFest Colorado: A Celebration of Gaming, Community, and Charity
LANFest Colorado 2025 united gamers at the Douglas County Fairgrounds for a unique blend of competition, learning, and charity in a vibrant setting.

In an atmosphere charged with excitement and camaraderie, the 18th annual LANFest Colorado unfolded from October 3 to 5, 2025, at the expansive Douglas County Fairgrounds. This wasn’t just any gaming event; it was a vibrant intersection of competition, community, and charity that welcomed gamers from all walks of life.
The Pulse of the Event: Gaming Galore
With the 29,000-square-foot James R. Sullivan Event Center bustling with hundreds of computers, LANFest was a testament to the enduring allure of gaming. Participants eagerly set up their own systems on a local area network, while some explored the option of renting cutting-edge machines available at the venue. According to Jacob Anderson, an organizer, the joy of shared gaming experiences in person is unparalleled. “You don’t just play; you interact, cheer, and even banter in ways impossible at home,” he remarked.
A Family Tradition of Joy and Learning
For some, like Tyler and Ches Hamill, LANFest is more than a convention; it’s a family reunion infused with the thrill of gaming. Each year, they travel from Tennessee, their minds set on more than just competition. Tyler detailed the educational journey he’s embarked on, thanks to the festival. “Building my own computer was a game-changer. Literally,” he shared. Ches added, “The skills learned here transcend gaming, equipping many with valuable technical expertise.”
Beyond Games: A Hub of Skill and Social Growth
Volunteers at the event found themselves amid remarkable opportunities to hone new skills, as Anderson noted, “Many leave with more knowledge than they arrived with, paving pathways into fields like network engineering.” The event encouraged a break from the screens as well, featuring AFK (Away From Keyboard) activities like lawn games and scavenger hunts, fostering social bonds in person.
Bridging Generations and Breaking Stereotypes
From toddlers to seniors, the diversity of attendees debunked the myths of gaming being a niche interest. Anderson shared his delight in seeing folks of all ages engaged in what they love, eroding the age-old stereotype of gaming as a secluded activity. The whole environment was inclusive, paving the way for new friendships over games like Dungeons & Dragons, proving that such gatherings nurture a sense of belonging and mutual enjoyment.
Gaming with a Cause
Since its inception in 2007, LANFest has been committed to more than just gaming—each year, the event supports various charitable causes. In 2025, all proceeds were directed to the Colorado Cancer Society, demonstrating the event’s heart and dedication to making impactful contributions to society.
LANFest Colorado has established itself as a landmark event on the gaming calendar, celebrated for its ability to transcend gaming, creating a vibrant tapestry of fun, learning, and giving back.
