Latvia Is Preparing a Draft Law to Restrict the Use of Russian Language

The Latvian Ministry of Justice is preparing a draft law to restrict the use of the Russian language at work and in public places.

In the 2012 referendum, almost 75% of the citizens voted against the use of Russian as a second state language.

The draft will soon be discussed by members of the coalition, and after the positions are agreed upon, it could be submitted to the Saeima (Latvian Parliament).
