NATO Allies Sign Accession Protocols for Finland and Sweden

The foreign ministers of Sweden and Finland signed accession protocols to NATO on July 5 at the conclusion of their respective negotiations.

The signing ceremony was held in Brussels at the headquarters of the North Atlantic Alliance. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke at the ceremony, calling the signing a historic moment.

Finland and Sweden applied to join NATO on May 18.
