Since the beginning of 2023, the Netherlands has stopped signing new contracts for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia. The country is working to terminate existing agreements, Bloomberg reports.

According to Energy Minister Rob Yetten, the government must do everything to ensure that there are no Russian fossil energy resources left in their system. He noted that the country has already done this with coal, pipeline gas, and oil.

The Netherlands is a transit country for gas supplies. Therefore, the decision to end Russian LNG imports will have an impact not only on it but also on other countries.
