Nintendo has officially unveiled a new version of its Nintendo Switch game console. This was reported on the company's website.
The new model is dubbed Nintendo Switch OLED. It is equipped with a seven-inch OLED display (the original console had a 6.2-inch display), as well as built-in speakers with improved audio and 64GB of built-in storage. In addition, the new version will receive a wide adjustable stand for tabletop play and a new dock with a built-in wired ethernet port.
The new Switch has retained its classic design, but its length has increased by three millimeters, and its weight has increased.
There were no changes in processor or RAM. Inside, it is still the same Switch that is currently presented on the market. However, this is the first console update since the Lite version – a budget version of the original Nintendo Switch.
The debut version of the Nintendo Switch console was presented in October 2016, and the console went on sale in March 2017. In 2019, Nintendo released a compact version of the Switch Lite console.
The company said in a statement that the updated console will also support the same games as the original Switch. The controllers and docking station will also be interchangeable.
Nintendo Switch with OLED display will go on sale on October 8 and cost $350.
