Parity Games announced its first project – a story-driven mythical adventure game called the Island of Winds. It will introduce players to the Nordic beauty of 17th century Iceland, where reality and mythology are intertwined. The game is set in an open world full of creatures from Icelandic folklore. The authors were inspired by local beauty, folklore, and history.
To mark the occasion, the studio unveiled the first trailer for the game.
The protagonist of the game is Brynhild, the Balance Keeper. When her mentor Hrymja is abducted to be executed for witchcraft, she has to embark on a dangerous journey to maintain a balance between the worlds of nature and humans. To restore the balance and finish her journey, the main character will have to work as a mediator between natural forces and the human world. To do this, she will have to learn from elves, trolls, and other creatures yet to be discovered.
Throughout her journey, she will meet legendary mythical creatures and visit nine stunning locations that show Iceland's stunning natural beauty and embody various emotions.
The game pays attention to empathy, which is the focus of the entire plot. It will explore such topics as regret, violence, and self-doubt.
Island of Winds will be released on PlayStation 5 and PC in 2022.
