On November 11, Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. On November 22, the company issued an official statement with apologies for the unexpected technical issues players encountered with the remastered trilogy at launch.
Rockstar Games noted that the original trilogy is important both for them and its players and acknowledged that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition did not meet the company's quality standards, as well as the standards expected by the fans of the games.
The developers promised to fix technical issues and improve the quality of each game of the collection in the coming days. The first 1.02 update was released for all platforms the next day. The first changes are mainly aimed at fixing the most annoying issues that affect the gameplay, missions, and world exploration.
In addition, Rockstar Games has decided to return the original games to the Rockstar Store as a single bundle.
The company also asked the fans to communicate in a civil and respectful manner as there were reports that some development teams were being harassed on social media.
Anyone who purchases Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition on PC from the Rockstar Store before June 30, 2022, will get the original games for free.
