Russian repair workshops and private technicians are experiencing a surge in demand, with service requests rising by 20-100% in the past year, depending on the type of device, CNews reports.
This trend can be attributed to several factors, including the impact of the Russian war in Ukraine, as a result of which sanctions have limited access to international brands for Russians, as well as the continuous depreciation of the ruble, causing tech and electronics prices to soar.
In the first eight months of 2023, demand for repairing major household appliances increased by 20% year-on-year. Throughout the summer, the need for repair experts in this category doubled on an annual basis, while demand for fixing smaller household appliances surged by 43%.
Interestingly, Russians are now increasingly opting for appliance repairs instead of heading to the stores for replacements.
