Seven Wonders of Minecraft
For many gamers, Minecraft is presented as only a city-planning simulator, the meaning of which is solely to build something unusual and impressive. Creative Mode is really geared towards virtual architects and designers. Let's talk about the most unique, large-scale, and time-consuming playgrounds.
NEW-YORK
German studio Shapescape, which deals with entertainment and educational projects for Minecraft, has released many replicas of cities in the Immersion series. In their catalog, you can find Paris, Vienna, Washington, Chicago, and, of course, New York. Alas, you have to pay real money for access to virtual cities.
WINTERFELL
The world of Game of Thrones is no longer as exciting as it was several years ago when the first seasons appeared. The WesterosCraft started its project in 2011. Since that moment, they painstakingly and carefully recreate the world of Game of Thrones. At the moment, out of half a thousand cities, fortresses, settlements, and attractions of Westeros have already been built, and work continues.
The project is almost 70% ready. After its completion, it is planned to add an MMORPG module to the server so that everyone can join their own Game of Thrones. However, it is unlikely to happen in the coming months.
CARLYDIA
Carlydia is a project of an invented ideal world created by a small group of nature lovers, which worked on the map for five years and used 480 million cubes.
The world of Carlydia is as far from civilization as possible; it contains only the beautiful expanses of nature. Moreover, for every taste: snow-covered northern spaces, mild continental climate of the plains, tropical heat at the equator. Deserts, jungles, canyons, age-old forests, and inaccessible rocks.
MIDDLE-EARTH
Minas Tirith, the capital of Gondor from The Lord of the Rings saga, is one of the most famous buildings in Minecraft. It even recently became a showcase for NVIDIA lighting technology. But the walled city is only one part of a global project to recreate the entire map of the world of Middle-Earth.
Work on the Minecraft Middle Earth project began in 2010, making the Middle Earth builder community one of the oldest in Minecraft. The area of the already created Middle-Earth is 29 by 39 thousand blocks or 870 square kilometers.
MEDIEVAL WORLD
The authors of the Orion project set out to build their own fantasy world of the Medieval world. They took a 2048 x 2048 map and filled it with forests, valleys, mountains, glaciers, islands, cities, fortresses, and settlements.
The creators have already erected several major capitals and recently showed the completed city of Doriad, which, according to the idea, specializes in trade and religion: you can find a huge port and three large temples in it. It took more than forty hours to put the city together from the pre-built assets only, and fragments of the construction are shown in a new video.
A very small team is working on the Middle Ages world, and there is no talk of a completion date yet.
GREENFIELD
Greenfield is considered the largest city built in Minecraft. It took almost ten years to create it: at first, it was a solo project, but now dozens of players had joined the work on the city.
The design of the virtual city is impressive with its elaboration and attention to detail. All districts are carefully planned; gamers located dozens, hundreds, and thousands of industrial enterprises, commercial buildings, construction sites, residential buildings, and office premises. And most of them even recreated interiors, roads, power lines, and other communications that connect all neighborhoods and districts.
According to the creators, the finished Greenfield map is already impressive, but the project is only 20% complete.
THE EARTH
It is hard to imagine what kind of structure could surpass the life-size model of the Earth. The mod team has created a new world for the game, in which the online maps with the landscape, roads, and vegetation are copied as accurately as possible. The oceans and seas have been approximately recreated so far, but an update is being prepared to increase the reliability of their images. At the same time, both resources and dungeons are saved in the world, so it is quite suitable for a regular game. Unless it was necessary to remove the restriction on the size of the map with a special mod.
Currently, the creators of Terra 1-to-1 invite everyone to join in further improving the Earth through the Build the Earth project. Anyone can choose their own city or a well-known Earth piece and try to build it on a virtual planet.
