A group of industry veterans from Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Sony Santa Monica Studio, EA, and Bungie announced the creation of an independent AAA studio called That's No Moon on July 28. The studio says it will "create captivating narrative-driven games."

That's No Moon described themselves as a studio "at the intersection of entertainment, gaming, and technology." The studio did not provide any details about the upcoming title.

The CEO and co-founder of That's No Moon is the former head of Sony San Diego Studio, Michael Mumbauer.

Taylor Kurosaki, who previously worked at Naughty Dog as a Narrative Design Lead and as a Studio Narrative Director at Infinity Ward, will be the studio's Creative Director.

Jacob Minkoff, who worked on The Last of Us and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, will become the Game Director of That's No Moon.

The team also includes Tina Kowalewski of Sony's Santa Monica Studio, Nick Kononelos (former Senior Development Director at EA), Barry Jenova of Bungie, and George Ellison (former CFO of PlayStation Global Services).

That's No Moon's first project will be a new AAA single-player third-person action-adventure game, which is being created in partnership with the South Korean company Smilegate. To work on the new game, the studio received a $100 million investment from Smilegate, known for releasing the online shooter Crossfire.

The studio is currently looking for new employees with experience in different development departments. The studio will be based in Los Angeles and expects team size to approach 100 employees by 2022.
