The European Union Looks to Replace Russian Gas with Nigerian Supplies

The European Union is planning to increase gas supplies from Nigeria in preparation for potential Russian supply cuts, Deputy Director General of the European Commission’s energy department Matthew Baldwin said on Saturday. This is reported by Reuters.

Nigeria plans to re-open the Trans-Niger Pipeline after August, which would increase gas exports to Europe.

The EU imports 14 percent of its total LNG supply from Nigeria, and there is potential to more than double that amount.
