The Game Awards 2021 Will Be Held on December 9
The annual Oscars-like award show dedicated to video games will be held this Thursday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles as an in-person event, scheduled to begin at 8 PM EST and end at 11 PM. The Game Awards will be live-streamed across multiple platforms, including the official website, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok.
The show's organizers unveiled a trailer for the upcoming event, showing both the best games of the year as well as some new projects. They also promise a lot of announcements, with more than half of them dedicated to new upcoming games – some of them coming in 2023 and beyond. In general, approximately 40-50 games will be announced.
The show's host Geoff Keighley also noted that Activision Blizzard would not be allowed to participate in The Game Awards due to the harassment scandal that erupted this summer.
He also noted that the entire industry can work together to create a better and safer environment.
The Game Awards has also kicked off the second round of user voting for the best game of the year with ten options to choose from:
- Deathloop
- Fortnite
- Forza Horizon 5
- Halo Infinite
- It Takes Two
- Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
- Metroid Dread
- Psychonauts 2
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Resident Evil Village
