British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced a ban on imports of Russian diamonds, copper, aluminum, and nickel. This was reported by Sky News and on Rishi Sunak’s Twitter.

“Ensuring Ukraine wins is the most important thing we can do for global peace and security. We are banning all imports of Russian diamonds, copper, aluminium and nickel. Sanctions are having a clear impact in degrading Putin’s war effort. The G7 stands united with Ukraine,” the tweet reads.

This way, the diamond export market worth $4 billion will be frozen. The sanctions will also apply to imports of copper, aluminum, and nickel of Russian origin.

Britain is also imposing sanctions against 86 other individuals and companies associated with the military-industrial complex of Russia.
