Ukraine, along with several other states aspiring to become members of the European Union, has informed the EU Council of its intention to join the sanction regime related to the destabilization of Moldova. The announcement was made by Josep Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

According to Borrell, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Ukraine, and Montenegro, which are candidate countries for EU membership, are joining the EU targeted restrictive measures against natural persons which undermine or threaten the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova.

Additionally, EFTA countries, including Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway, align themselves with this Council Decision.
