Confirmed reports now verify the earlier news from February about Uniqlo's complete departure from the Russian market. The Japanese retail giant has chosen to vacate the spaces it leased for its stores, as reported by Vedomosti.
Sources within the publication reveal that Uniqlo terminated all its rental contracts, taking into account penalty sanctions, and released all store employees. Former staff members received compensation equivalent to 11 months' salary, while Japanese managers were relocated to other countries.
Initially, it was stated that Uniqlo would retain five stores despite closing most of its locations. However, these claims have proven untrue. The spaces once leased by the company are now occupied by different retailers.
