US Expands Sanctions to Include Belarus' Belavia Airlines
The United States has extended sanctions to cover both entities and individuals in Belarus, as reported by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury.
Among the entities subject to sanctions is the national airline of Belarus, Belavia. Also included are Byelorussian Steel Works, Bel-Kap-Steel, LLC, and the Financial Investigations Department of the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus. Several individuals are also affected by these sanctions.
This move follows previous restrictions placed on Belavia by the US. In June of this year, the US Department of Commerce extended export limitations against the airline for an additional 180 days, lasting until December 13th, 2023.
