The Board of the World Curling Federation (WCF) decided to extend the suspension of Russian and Belarusian teams from the competitions until the end of the calendar year, the press service of the WCF announced on the official website.
WCF suspended Russian athletes from competitions until the end of the 2021-22 season back in March.
“The next ranked team from the previous edition of the qualifying championship — if a previous qualification championship took place — will replace the Russian and Belarusian teams in these championships. If no qualification championship took place, the replacement team will be determined by the world rankings.
In the European Curling Championships A-Division, taking place in Oestersund, Sweden, the Russian women’s team will be replaced by Hungary, while the men’s team will be replaced by Spain,” the official statement reads.
