Bugsnax Developer Young Horses Announces Switch to a 4-Day Workweek

The developers of the Bugsnax game created by the Young Horses studio announced that they are shifting to a 4-day working week.

Back in July, the studio had a survey where they asked their employees whether they would like to transition to a new work schedule, and most of the employees voted in favor of such changes.

The studio management says that they made this decision to improve the working conditions of their employees as well as their overall well-being. By working four days a week, people will have more time for their personal life, family and friends, leisure activities, and self-development.

Young Horses' president and co-founder Philip Tibitowski said that he believes people should have as much rest as they want, so they hope the 4-day working system will help employees become well-rested, which can contribute to the overall success in the long run.

Tibitovski also noted that it was easy to implement the new schedule in his studio since it is rather small. However, it is still possible in larger companies, too, except it may be more difficult to organize it.

Bugsnax was released on PS4 and PS5 in 2020. The game will be released on PC via Steam in 2022, but the exact date has not been announced yet. The studio is currently working on a new project.

Microsoft has also practiced 4-day workweeks in the past, noting that it contributed to a significant increase in productivity – since people can rest more, they can then work better.

The overall advantages of a 4-day working week are increased productivity, fewer health issues, happier employees, and reduces costs.
